Mrs. Medinat Adunni Lawal-Sani was born on 15th August, 1967. She began her distinguished career in educational administration at the Federal College of Education, Kano, in 1992 as an Administrative Officer II. Through diligence, competence, and unwavering dedication to service, she steadily rose through the ranks and attained the position of Deputy Registrar in 2007.

In 2022, she transferred her services to the Federal College of Education, Iwo, Osun State, where she has continued to demonstrate exemplary professionalism, administrative acumen, and commitment to institutional development.

Mrs. Lawal-Sani’s academic background reflects both depth and versatility. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution in 1994. Her commitment to the advancement of education led her to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the Federal College of Education, Kano (2004). In addition, she holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Computing (1999), demonstrating her early recognition of the importance of technological proficiency in modern administration.

Her professional competence has been further enhanced through advanced management and administrative training at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) as well as international exposure at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.

Professional Recognition and Fellowships

Mrs. Lawal-Sani is widely respected among her peers and belongs to several reputable professional bodies. She is a Fellow of:

  • Nigerian Institute of Management
  • Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria
  • National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Professional Administrators
  • Women in Colleges of Education

She is also an active member of:

  • Nigerian Institute of Public Relations
  • Forum for African Women Educationalists

Awards and Commendations

Her dedication to excellence and service has earned her numerous recognitions and commendations, including:

  • Letter of Commendation by the Governing Council, Federal College of Education, Iwo, for facilitating the donation of computers and ICT resources from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to the College ICT Centre – July 2025.
  • Award of Honour presented by the Students’ Union Government, Federal College of Education, Iwo – 5th September, 2025.
  • Award of Recognition by the Ansar-ud-Deen Women’s Forum, Osun State, for exceptional humanitarian and charitable contributions during the 14th Annual Family Day Celebration – 2025.
  • Commendation Letter for members of the Ceremony Committee for successfully organizing the 2023 and 2024 Matriculation Ceremonies of the Federal College of Education, Iwo.
  • Award of Excellence for years of dedicated service as a member of the FCE Kano Staff Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Management Committee (2016–2022).
  • Certificate of Distinction presented by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in 2018 in recognition of her contributions to societal advancement, educational development, and youth empowerment.

Leadership and Community Service

Beyond her official responsibilities in the Registry, Mrs. Lawal-Sani has distinguished herself as a committed union leader, advocate for women’s empowerment, and community development Champion.

She has served in numerous leadership roles, including:

  • Chairman, Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education, Nigeria (SSUCOEN), FCE Kano Chapter (2017– 2022)
  • Steering Vice-Chairperson, Women in Colleges of Education (WICE), FCE Iwo Chapter (2022–2025)
  • Vice-Chairperson, WICE FCE Kano Chapter (2006–2011)
  • Coordinator, Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), Kano State Chapter (2005–2009)
  • Vice-Chairperson, Nigerian Institute of Management, Kano Branch (2006–2009)
  • Assistant Secretary, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Kano State Chapter (1996–2000)

She has also actively participated in several civil society and advocacy initiatives focused on gender inclusion, peace building, access to justice, and social development.

As a pioneer member of Women in Colleges of Education (WICE), Mrs. Lawal-Sani demonstrated remarkable commitment to the growth of the association. During her tenure as Vice-Chairperson of WICE, FCE Kano, she initiated the deduction of membership dues at source for the first time in the College, thereby strengthening the structure and coordination of the association. Under her leadership, WICE became a vibrant platform advocating for the welfare and development of female staff and students, organizing mentoring and interactive sessions aimed at empowering female students and promoting participation at both zonal and national levels.

Her passion for uplifting the vulnerable, empowering the girl child, and promoting community development has also led her to engage actively with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and various advocacy networks.

Family Life and Personal Qualities

Mrs. Medinat Adunni Lawal-Sani is widely admired for her integrity, discipline, exceptional organizational skills, and dedication to service. A devoted wife and mother of four, she embodies the virtues of excellence, humility, and commitment required for effective leadership in academic administration.

As she assumes office today as the Registrar of the Federal College of Education, Iwo, the College community looks forward with optimism to a new era of administrative efficiency, institutional growth, and strengthened service delivery under her leadership.
