The Beginning of the Journey Lack of adequate qualified teachers in public and private schools has been identified as a major challenge in the provision of Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Nigeria. As part of the measures to improve the number and quality of teachers to be produced and deployed to primary and secondary schools across the country, the Federal Government of Nigeria under the able leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, established six (6) Federal Colleges of Education each in the six geo-political zones of the country on 18th November 2019. The South-west zone of the colleges is sited in Iwo, Osun State. Soon after the establishment of the Colleges, Principal officers were appointed on 16th March 2021, while operation commenced in April 2021.

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

Our College has enjoyed an exceptional unbreakable chain of harmonious industrial relations between the Management and the staff and students Unions. This is partly because our Governments have been considerate and responsive to the welfare of staff and students and partly because the College was lucky to have been blessed with Managements and Union Leaders that always put common interests above personal interests and worked hard for the development of the College.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Iwo people and its leaders, particularly, the Traditional Leaders of Iwo, have been very hospitable and supportive to College since its establishment. The pioneer leaderships of the College have done an excellent work of establishing and sustaining a mutually beneficial relation with our host community. Therefore, we made sure we build upon that through; the recruitment of more junior staff and security personnel on casual basis from Iwo and neighbouring towns.

COLLABORATION/AFFILIATION

The College had and is still into collaborations/affiliations with so many National and International Organizations and Universities like UNICEF, DFID, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal and State Universities in Osun State, Other Tertiary Institutions, National Teachers Institute (NTI) Universal Basic Education (UBEC), State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) etc.

Stakeholders and Partners

Federal College of Education Iwo Offers career-oriented programs for motivated students who seek academic excellence, personal growth, and professional success.
