BRIEF ON THE COLLEGE
The Beginning of the Journey
Lack of adequate qualified teachers in public and private schools has been identified as a major challenge in the provision of Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Nigeria. As part of the measures to improve the number and quality of teachers to be produced and deployed to primary and secondary schools across the country, the Federal Government of Nigeria under the able leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, established six (6) Federal Colleges of Education each in the six geo-political zones of the country on 18th November 2019. The South-west zone of the colleges is sited in Iwo, Osun State.
Soon after the establishment of the Colleges, Principal officers were appointed on 16th March 2021, while operation commenced in April 2021.
